Bill Moyers' Journal: On Impeachment

15 July, 2007

Did you see Bill Moyers’ Journal on PBS last Friday night, on which two experts, one conservative and one liberal, discussed the impeachment process? I watched it in the company of two attorneys, one pro-impeachment and one anti-impeachment. By the end of the show, they agreed on the necessity of this process. If you didn’t see the show, please click here to listen and read.

Once you have seen it, if you agree with the conclusions of Bruce Fein, the constitutional scholar who wrote the first article of impreachment against President Bill Clinton, and John Nichols, correspondent for The Nation and author of the book The Genius of Impeachment, please send an email with this link to the transcript of the show to your Senators and Representative in Washington. Please politely request that they read this discussion and seriously consider what they have read.

I’d also suggesting sending it to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (who famously said “Impeachment is off the table”), and to Senator (and presidential candidate) Barack Obama, who rejected impeachment, saying “I think you reserve impeachment for grave, grave breaches, and intentional breaches of the president’s authority.”

I would also send it to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who, so far, has remained silent in this debate. Heck, I’d send it to ALL of the Democratic Party leadership and candidates for president, except Representative (and presidential candidate) Dennis Kucinich, who has already FILED articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney. To him, just send kudos, and, if you have it, send money.
